Bristol Community College acknowledges ransomware attack

Stephen Peterson reports: The computer systems of Bristol Community College were hacked in a ā€œransomwareā€ incident, college officials acknowledge. The college, which has a campus in Attleboro, said in a statement posted Friday on its website their computer network was hacked by a ā€œcriminal cyberattackā€ and ā€œthis incident involved ransomware encryption.ā€ Read more at The Sun Chronicle The incident was on December 23 and the college claims, ā€œā€œAt this time, Bristol Community College has no forensic evidence that this incident resulted in the unauthorized access to, or acquisition of, personal information,ā€ the college added.ā€ A ransomware incident without access to or acquisition of personal information? Unlikely these days…. but we’ll watch for updates.
