Google Translate is turning into a crypto mining malware and has reportedly claimed about 111,000 victims from over 11 countries. Yes, what you’ve read is right!

According to a research carried out by Check Point Software technologies, a Turkish firm named Nitrokod has devised free software that acts as a Google Translate Desktop software, but is actually a crypto mining malware having capabilities of evading anti-malware solutions.

As per the analysis conducted by Security Researchers of Check Point, the malware is available as a Google Translate desktop app and is available for free downloaded from Softpedia and the general Google search engine.

And as soon as the software is downloaded, a secret malware mining software also downloads along with it, that stays in hiatus for almost a fortnight.

It is after the said time frame does the malware gets downloaded and executes itself only to connect to the command-and-control server and starts mining activity, handing down the control of the servers to the hands of the hackers, later.

What’s amazing about this translation malware is that it can transform itself as a ransomware or a banking Trojan at any point in time.

NOTE- A crypto mining malware is a kind of malicious software that starts using the processing resources on a computer to mine cryptocurrency. Remember, when a computer processes billions of requests, under certain circumstances and with specialized software and hardware, it engages in a peculiar activity of awarding its admin with a crypto. Software acts as a backdoor to install other malware and consumes tremendous amounts of cryptocurrency and bandwidth, it often acts as a hard to track threat.
